This workshop shows you reliable ways to develop a doctoral project. Strong strategies and knowledge of stabilising structures will give you confidence for your first steps in an unfamiliar field of research. You will learn about tools for the effective preparation of an exposé for a doctoral project, work directly on your project ideas and receive initial feedback.

Methods
- Partner or group work for external and self-diagnosis of behavior patterns
- interactive lecture sequences to convey information by the trainer
- Guided practice phases to implement the input on their own project
- Presentation of the participants' work results to the group
- guided reflections and peer feedback
- Securing results with contemporary (digital) tools
Coaching
Following the workshop, each participant will be offered an individual coaching session lasting 60 minutes. The dates will be agreed with the trainer.
The counselling service offers you the opportunity to enter into a feedback process with an experienced academic editor & writing coach to work intensively on your texts. The research proposal can be submitted in advance for feedback. You will receive comments on the text and we can discuss revision strategies in an online session. The counselling can refer to German and English texts and can take place in German or English.
Contents could include:
Advice on the individual project on questions such as
- Was wird von mir bzw. meinem Exposé erwartet?
- Wie entwickle ich ein präzises Forschungsziel?
- Wie entwickle ich ein tragfähiges Theoretical Framework?
- Welche Methodologie passt zu meinem Projektziel?
- Wie entwickle ich ein durchführbares Untersuchungsdesign?
Requirements
To participate, you will need a laptop/PC with a camera, microphone and internet access. The platform BigBlueButton will be used during the workshop and you will receive the link to the online platform a few days prior to the event.

Lecturer:
Dr. Beate Richter
Dr. Beate Richter ist Gründerin der Schreibschule „Wissenschaftliche Schreibwerkstatt Berlin“, in der sie seit dem Jahr 2003 ein fächerübergreifendes Programm an Schreibworkshops, Coachings und Lektoratsdienstleistungen für Wissenschaftler und Studenten anbietet. Als erfahrene Trainerin, interessierte Beraterin und aufmerksame Lektorin begleitet sie Autoren durch alle Phasen eines Forschungsprojektes, um Arbeitsabläufe zu reflektieren, Schreibhürden aus dem Weg zu räumen und nachhaltige Routinen für eine motivierte und effektive Textproduktion zu entwickeln.
Nach dem Studium der Physik, Philosophie und Literatur promovierte sie in der Bildungsphilosophie. Sie ist seit 2016 Lehrbeauftragte an der Freien Universität Berlin und hat 13 Jahre lang an der Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin neben wissenschaftlichen Arbeitstechniken auch die Bereiche Wissenschaftstheorie und Angewandte Ethik unterrichtet.
