In this online workshop, we will focus on strategies for developing, writing and revising texts that are crucial for a successful application for a scholarship or doctoral programme. We will focus on the cover letter, narrative CV and research proposal and find answers to the following questions: Which scholarship and doctoral programmes are available in Germany and which one should I choose? What does a successful letter of motivation look like? How do I create a convincing narrative CV? How do I write a convincing proposal?

Qualification Outcomes

  • Scholarship and doctoral programs in Germany
  • The attractive letter of motivation
  • The convincing narrative CV
  • The scientific exposé

Methods

  • Partner or group work for external and self-diagnosis of behavior patterns,
  • interactive lecture sequences to convey information by the trainer,
  • Guided practice phases to implement the input on their own project,
  • Presentation of the participants' work results to the group,
  • guided reflections and peer feedback,
  • Securing results with contemporary (digital) tools.

Coaching

Following the workshop, each participant will be offered an individual coaching session lasting 60 minutes. The dates will be agreed with the trainer and will take place between 07.12.2024 and 31.03.2025.

The counselling service offers you the opportunity to enter into a feedback process with an experienced academic editor & writing coach to work intensively on your texts. The cover letter, narrative CV and research proposal can be submitted in advance for feedback. You will receive comments on the text and we can discuss revision strategies in an online session. The counselling can refer to German and English texts and can take place in German or English.
